Völkermarkt

Völkermarkt is a city of about 11,000 inhabitants in Carinthia, Austria.
According to the 2001 census 2,6% of the population are Carinthian Slovenes.
Famous natives and inhabitants of the town included the Jesuit historian Markus Hansiz, the German military commander Julius Ringel, the physician and botanist Johann Joseph Peyritsch and the Medieval nobleman Bernhard von Spanheim.
